Acrylic, enamel, marker on paper construct 22″x22″
This is one of the first paper ‘constructs’ I made. My process usually involves cutting a part whole sections of paintings that aren’t working at the time. What those sections consist of are these rather well developed and layered odd shaped paintings with no home that I can’t throw out. The point of them us rescuing and transforming these lonely parts into something new. A new object or thing. They have all my favorite elements of a more normal painting, yet in a little ball of energy you could imagine pulling off the wall, throwing and bouncing all around. Quite often, to me, they have the general shape of a shield. Which I love the idea of…an art shield to defend and protect yourself against all the bull shit that sometimes comes your way.
