About this piece:
This painting was done in the summer of 2012. It had been a difficult one personally and I used this first part of the title a couple of times in other paintings too ‘Summer’s Over…’ I liked thinking about putting an end to that time and it was empowering in a way, to leave it behind. I was using a lot black paint then, I saw it as a beautiful night sky, not something sinister or depressing. The black paint feels liquid and inky and cool…I like imagining swimming through a weightless, peaceful space like this.
