About this piece:
Flowers have become a reoccuring shape in my work. The meditation of drawing a continuing loopy line that creates an allusion to nature is a grounding act that I’ve done since childhood. It’s a nostalgic and playful image in my vocabulary of shapes. The smaller underlying shapes are from a series of collage studies and have been sanded to resemble the aging hand painted signage around my neighborhood in North Oakland.
