6″ x 6″, acrylic on wooden panel, 2017
About the piece:
This painting is based on a paper collage and inspired by one of my favorite surf spots in Southern California. Leo Carillo is a point break in Malibu that has a precarious take off spot, right next to a huge rock surrounded by other bits of rock and reef. The wave bounces off of the large rock, doubling its size, and resulting in a perfectly peeling wave down the beach.
