Woman in White

$450.00

Gouache on cradled panel 8″ x 8″, 2004

About the piece:
One day in a second hand shop, I came across a collection of figures and animals made for miniature train layouts. For about five dollars I got a whole bag. Because they were so small I had to photograph them, then work from the photos rather than from life as I was used to. I set them up on my porch railing in a natural landscape and light. All the “dolls” remind me of people I know- family, friends, acquaintances – just going about their day, walking, waiting, doing things or standing by ready for a portrait.
