$1,800.00

Wasp nest, branches, and root found along hiking trail in North Carolina. Pastel drawings in hand built wood house with glass sidings. This piece is free standing (no hanging required).
15″ x 11″ x 4″

This sculpture is inspired by the poem “Without” by Gary Snyder:

the silence
of nature
within.

the power within.
the power
without.

the path is whatever passes –no
end in itself.

the end is,
grace – ease –
healing,
not saving.

singing
the proof
the proof of the power within.

My Dad taught me how to use the table saw years ago. I still use the original saw he found for me at a garage sale. It is small enough to move around my studio and perfect for my needs. I built this larger house with wood, sanded, assembled and stained it. The wasp nest, root, and branches were collected along a hiking trail in North Carolina. Grass stalks were added one-by one with tweezers and mud carefully added along the roof edges.
