12″ x 12″, Acrylic on wooden panel
About the piece:
This composition originated as a collage and has been given another life as a painting. The colors are inspired by one of my favorite artists (Stuart Davis) and one of my favorite hidden gems in Northern California (The California Delta). The Delta is an estuary where the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers meet before heading out through the Carquinez Strait toward the bay. It’s full of old buildings, tackle shops, farms, and bars, which makes it feel like the South (my homeland). It’s as if everything has been frozen in time and the rest of the world is vastly far away.
