Boyfriend’s Mom’s House

$300.00

Acrylic on canvas, 12” x 16”

About this piece:
Ever since moving to San Francisco, my work has become largely devoid of human subjects. There is a lot more white space, solid shapes, and ambiguity. I think this shift has a lot to do with the fact that I’m now living in this vast and overwhelmingly beautiful landscape far away from home. I’m pretty much constantly walking around in awe and having the urge to output these feelings. It keeps me in my room/studio a lot and away from social activities. I also like to mix in elements of nostalgia in my work for familiarity and lightheartedness. Life gets hard as we grow older!

This piece came out looking like a combination of my high school boyfriend’s Mom’s house and my first apartment in the Sunset district of San Francisco, sparsely decorated and chintzy. It’s cute and pervy at the same time.
