Beachbreak

$550.00

10″ x 7.5″,  acrylic and gouache on wooden panel, 2017

About the piece:
This painting is based on a paper collage. I painted the composition onto a handmade birch panel with acrylic and gauche paints, using a variety of brushes to create different of textures on the wooden surface. The piece is an homage to my favorite place (and surf spot) in California, Bolinas. It’s a tiny maritime village in West Marin with what is sure to be a bubble of magic around it. It’s dotted with brightly painted wooden cabins who’s exteriors have been faded and cracked from decades of sun exposure and salty air. The colors used in this piece were selected from a special sunset photo I took there on my birthday.
